it happens in every city

So, I was cat sitting (my last gig ever) and I was listening to some CDs and I found a track I really liked. So MusicGeek in me hit the internet to find everything and anything by the band and guess what...well, they have the single I heard, and that's it. A 7" and a 12", the 12" available online for @$250, the 7" now where but averaging @ 70GBP in past eBay sales, and one lone auction archived on popsike.com for a 7" test pressing of different songs, seller says BETTER than the one on the single.
Wikipedia barely a whisper about the band, a blog post that gives a hint of more info, but really, nothing.
How many bands does this situation fit?
A Lion bar to anyone who can guess the track/band (aside from Teflon who has heard me rant about it since Sunday).
