Beef Jerky time!
So, over the weekend I got a hankering for beef jerky. I convinced Teflon that we could make some really good stuff.
Monday night we got 2lbs of steak and I sliced it up and put it in my custom marinade:
6 limes juiced
1 cup soy sauce
1 small bottle sake
1 splash bourbon
1 splash manhattan mix
2 tablespoons brown sugar
dash celery salt
dash gumbo file
1 clove garlic pressed
dash red pepper
2 squirts jalepeno sauce
splash club soda

Last night I dug out my Ronco Dehydratron machine and washed 1/2 of it in the dish washer. This morning I laid out most of the meat onto 3 trays and started it up. The other trays are in the washer right now, and when they're done, I will add the rest of the meat and mayb Sricha sauce some of those up for some ultra-hot & spicy.
I realized that the reason I hadn't used the Dehydratron was that it is a pain to clean, except now I have a dishwasher, and it makes life easier.
This is my first ever attempt at jerky, and if it's good, I doubt there will be any to share on this 1st batch.
However, the farmer's market has started up again and I can get into some dehydrating goodness with the freshest of stuff.
Apples, pears, bananas, you name it, I'll suck the water right out and make it tough & leathery to eat...
