Smoking...
I was thinking today about ashtrays. I remember back when I was @14 and my dad and his new wife were furnishing their new apartment together (the fabled Park Place apartment 4010 hey they went condo!) that we spent a good day shopping finding the right ashtray for the living room. It was a stand alone thing with a handle shaped like a greyhound. It fit in well with the Thomas McKnight prints and prints from that artist who did Duran Duran's Rio cover.
Then I started thinking about my "hole" on Lunt Ave and how I had 2 ashtrays, basically for Phil & my mom, the blue ceramic skull I made in high school and the black rubberized square/chrome dealy that I probably stole from my dad's Park Place apt way back when.
I think my dad still has the greyhound in his unused living room, but I haven't seen my ashtrays since we moved into the condo. Maybe they got tossed. You can't smoke at my house anyways.
Seems like a long time has passed since a day could be spent shopping for an ashtray.
