Booksigning!

Teflon tells me that Aline Kominsky-Crumb and Peter Poplaski are going to be at Quimby's tonight for a talk on the new "R. Crumb Handbook". So we had to go, as she likes Robert Crumb, but really loves Aline Kominsky-Crumb.
Eric in tow we head over to the shop an hour early. I end up making us sit in the front row, which was way worth it.
They gave their little talk and said buy 3 books each. The book looks very cool, but I'm next in line for it, as Teflon is reading it now, whist I give this report. During the talk, Aline made great eye contact with us and was seriously sitting right in front of us, it was great. She mentioned how her own book came out years ago on a small press and that of the 1000 printed, they still had 500 left for sale.
When we got the book signed, Teflon pulls an Aline book from her purse to get signed too, and it's the very book she was talking about. During the signing, I decide I will take the Dixie™ cup she had her water in as a souvenir, as it has her lipstick on it.

We had dinner next door at the noodle place. Finished off the night with Dairy Star. Hannah was able to meet us there and drive Eric home. She had a cone with us too. Medium chocolate/vanilla swirl with crunchies dip. Mid cone she looked up and said to us:
"This is serious."
A great night.

So the lottery is upwards of $160Million tonight. I went to the quickie-mart next door and got $2 more tickets. I told the guy, give me $2 quick-pick, but make sure there are no prime numbers on the tickets.
I think it's funny, how sometimes I read posts on my friend Phil's weblog that seem to be direct conversations with my posts here. Except if you look at his "I'm a gamer" post, it is a response to my "I'm a hater" post, except, in my post, it had nothing to do with games, or gamers in general, but was a commentary on some of the idiots who have been milling around outside the store lately.
Had nothing to do with you, buddy.

Ian Curtis is alive and well, shopping for records...

So a young man strolls into the shop and my boss goes, look, it's Ian Curtis, and this kid does look like Ian Curtis.
So he's a little bit of a tardling and is rattling off bands he likes:
Beatles
Rolling Stones
Etc...
And the boss goes "Joy Division"?
And the kid is like oh yes, Joy Division & the Kinks, Humble Pie...
So the boss goes "Ian Curtis was in Humble Pie for a little bit".
I almost choked on my sandwich!
The kid was like, "oh I didn't know that...oh, and I like Pink Floyd, The Who, Neil Young...".
I'm trying to figure out how to take his picture now.
I turned off the flash and zoomed in with a steady hand.
Next the boss told him that the other guy dated Kate Hudson in school, and that I was in the movie Spinal Tap.
